We are a self-service pension without an on-site reception. On the front door, there is a small safe with the room keys inside. When you make a reservation, you will receive an e-mail confirmation with the safe code and the instructions on how to obtain your room key. If you encounter any problems, our office is located at Nickelgasse 1, A-1020 Vienna, which is 1 metro stop (to Schottenring) and a 2-minute walk away. In the confirmation e-mail, we will also provide our mobile phone number for emergency cases. Please note that we have a minimum renting period of 3 nights. There is no daily cleaning service but we have complimentary final cleaning on the day of your departure. For long-stay guests, additional cleaning can be arranged.
As a guest of Pension Gross Hörlgasse, you will get a free Austrian mobile phone for your stay upon arrival. With this phone, you can call free of charge all Austrian landlines, T-Mobile Austria numbers and landlines in most countries. An additional advantage of the phone is that you can give this number to your relatives/friends/colleagues at home and when they call you during your stay in Vienna, there will be no roaming charges for you.
If you wish to have breakfast, please visit the nearby Cafe Konditorei Schmalzl (3-minute walking distance from the pension, address: Liechtensteinstrasse 19, A-1090 Vienna), where we have a special agreement for our guests: 5 EURO/person for breakfast. The Cafe Konditorei Schmalzl is open from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. Breakfast has to be paid directly in the restaurant.
The guesthouse is located near the Votive Church, which is one of the most important attractions of Vienna, with the beautiful Sigmund-Freud-Park surrounding it. At Schottentor, you can access metro line U2 as well as several tram lines (1, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44 and D). With the metro, you can get to the City Hall (1st stop), Volkstheater (2nd stop), Museums Quarter (3rd stop) and the State Opera (4th stop). If you feel like walking instead, the Schottenring part of the famous Ringstrasse is just 2-minutes away from us and then you can walk along the ring, all the way to the opera house.
From the Westbahnhof railway station, take metro line U3 to Volkstheater and then change to metro line U2, alighting at Schottentor. From the Vienna Airport, take the S7 train or the City Airport Train to Landstrasse/Wien Mitte and then metro line U3 to Volkstheater. Here, change to metro line U2 and get off at Schottentor. If you wish to take a taxi from the airport, it's a good idea to sign up for a pre-arranged taxi transfer, which is very reliable and somewhat cheaper than normal taxi rates: Rosenov Airport Shuttle.
