Finding cheap accommodation in Vienna can be difficult sometimes. The central hotels and pensions, due to the high number of congress and conference visitors in the city, offer higher rates during most of the year. Nevertheless, if you want a central yet cheap hotel, take a look at Hotel Gasthof Riede, which is located in the 12th district of Vienna. From Gasthof Riede, you can get to the historical center of the city in a few minutes by subway.

Another option you should look at is Hotel Pension Kaffeemühle, located in the 7th district of Vienna, by the famous Mariahilfer Strasse. This hotel is also a great choice if you are looking for a hotel near the Westbahnhof, Western Railway Station. Last-minute rates are available. A bit closer to the center, right in Mariahilfer Strasse, you will find the lovely 2-star Pension Hargita. This pension has rooms with/without private shower/toilet, and it is a great choice if you are looking for a neat, central and cheap room. It is run by a very kind family from Transylvania. Rates stay the same throughout the year.

Another cheap hotel we would recommend you is Hotel Franzenshof, which is located in the 2nd district of Vienna, in the Grosse Stadtgutgasse. The historical center can be reached by subway (U1 or U2) in ca. 10 minutes. This hotel has been run by the Sobotka family for decades now, and you will surely experience a home-like atmosphere there.

Pension Bosch is located in the 3rd district of Vienna by the Belvedere Palace, and it offers very cheap rooms with/without private facilities. The historical center is within walking distance of Pension Bosch. Another must-see in this accommodation-category is Private Rooms Held, which is operated by the Held family in the 7th district of Vienna, at the Burggasse/Stadthalle station of subway line U6.

And finally, consider staying at Pension Dr. Geissler, which enjoys a superb location in the first district near the St. Stephens Cathedral.
