Stephansplatz - The Heart of Vienna
Stephansplatz and St. Stephen's Cathedral are considered to be the very center of Vienna. All tourists in Vienna will visit Stephansplatz at least once during their stay, and many people also like to be accommodated near this area, in order to be in the pedestrian zone, within walking distance of the Opera, Stephansplatz, St. Stephen's Cathedral, Graben and Kärntner Strasse. Metro line U3 has a station at Stephansplatz. If you wish to find accommodation at Stephansplatz, you should consider the following hotels, pensions and apartments:

200 meters from Stephansplatz, the 3-star Hotel Wandl offers 138 beautiful Viennese-style rooms and suites. History of the building dates back to the early 18th Century, and Hotel Wandl was considered to be the most elegant hotel in Vienna for a long time. The building was renovated in order to include modern amenities, private bathrooms and an elevator.

At the Vienna Opera, a 3-minute walk away from Stephansplatz, you can find the 3-star Pension Suzanne. This pension is located in a quiet little street, and it also offers spacious apartments (some with kitchenette) in addition to the standard rooms. The rooms of Pension Suzanne are also of Viennese-style, and less "modern" than those of Hotel Wandl. Nevertheless, it is a very popular pension because it has a great location, moderate rates and a genuine Viennese atmosphere.

Similar to Pension Suzanne, the 3-star Pension Aviano is located in Marco-D´Aviano Gasse, a tiny side-street from Kärntner Strasse towards Neuer Markt Square.
