Description: We are a family-run traditional Viennese hotel in the Josefstadt (8th) district of Vienna, behind the City Hall, in one of the nicest streets of Vienna. Our attentive colleagues and high standard of services will surely provide you with a friendly and harmonic atmosphere during your stay in Vienna. Rooms Our rooms are equipped with en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet, hairdryer. In the room, you will find cable-TV, wireless Internet access (free of charge), telephone and safe. We have the following room types: single room, standard double room, superior double room, deluxe double room and top-floor rooms. Room rates include local taxes, service charges and buffet breakfast. Pets are allowed in the room for a minor fee of 7 EURO/night. Non-smoking rooms are available on request. Location of Hotel Zipser and Arrival Hotel Zipser is located right behind the Vienna City Hall (Rathausplatz), a few minutes away from the Hofburg Palace, the old university, the Museum of Natural History (Naturhistorisches Museum) and the Museum of Fine Arts (Kunsthistorisches Museum). Those who are looking for cultural activities in Vienna, will surely appreciate our close proximity to the Opera, Volkstheater, Burgtheater and the Josefstadt Theater. As far as the culinary delights are concerned, you will find lots of Viennese gourmet restaurants and "heurigen" within walking distance of our hotel. Our staff members will gladly help you with table reservations. The City Hall (Rathausplatz) is especially famous during the summer when it hosts an open-air festival (July and August) with broad cultural and culinary programs. Operas, operettas, musicals and ballet shows are broadcasted free of charge on a big screen, and the best Viennese restaurants are offering their specialties to visitors. During the autumn, the Rathausplatz is turned into a colorful commercial for the Styria region of Austria (Styrian Holidays). In the winter, there is a traditional Viennese Christmas market in front of the City Hall, which provides a special atmosphere with its lights. In January, an ice-skating rink is set up here. If you are coming by car from the A1 Western highway (from Germany, Salzburg, Linz), drive towards the center until you pass by the Schönbrunn Palace and get to the Gürtel, Turn left on the Gürtel in the direction of "Gürtel Nord". After about 3,6 kilometers, you will reach Uhlkirche (church), and take a right turn onto Lange Gasse. Hotel Zipser is 250 meters from the corner. If you are coming towards Vienna on the A2 highway (from Italy, Graz), drive towards the center on Triester Strasse until you get to the Gürtel. Take a left turn in the direction of "Gürtel Nord", and continue straight for about 5,6 kilometers until you reach Uhlkirche (church). Here, take a right turn onto Laudongasse and go to almost the end of the street, and take a right turn onto Lange Gasse. Hotel Zipser will be 250 meters from the corner. From the Westbahnhof (Western Railway Station), take metro line U3 to station Volkstheater, then change to metro line U2 and take it to station Rathaus. From here, you can walk to our hotel in a few minutes. From the Southern Railway Station (Südbahnhof), take bus 13A to station Piaristengasse and then walk from there. If your flight lands at the Vienna International Airport, take the shuttle bus to Westbahnhof, and follow the instructions above. We can also arrange an airport pick-up for you for a rate of 29 EURO for 1-4 persons, 49 EURO for 5-8 persons. Please send us your flight details in advance in order to register for the service. Additional Information about Hotel Zipser We serve a rich buffet breakfast every morning between 6:30 and 11 a.m. Breakfast includes high-quality, organic and mainly local food (e.g. Styrian pumpkin seeds and fresh müsli). Being a Viennese hotel, we place a great emphasis on serving the best coffee to our guests. For tea-lovers, we offer a wide selection of Teekanne teas to accompany breakfast. For our guests arriving by car, we are able to provide a garage place at the rate of 15 EURO/day. Our colleagues at the reception desk will gladly help you purchase tickets for concerts, theater and opera shows. In addition, we recommend you to look through this list of Vienna Sightseeing Tours, which include a free pick-up from Hotel Zipser. There is free Internet connection in the rooms (wireless), but if you do not bring your laptop, you can use the computer in the entrance hall. Faxing and photo-copying are also available at the front desk. History of the House The house was built in 1904 to serve as a house for young girls, but it was soon turned into Pension Zipser with 13 rooms. During the following years, Ödön von Horváth, famous Austrian poet, stayed in our pensions on a few occasions, and even mentioned it in one of his books (Stories from the Wienerwald). Mrs. Hedwig Austerer acquired the hotel in 1967, and renovated it with great care, expanding the number of guestrooms to 53. Ever since, our family manages the hotel (third generation now) with detailed attention to service, Viennese tradition and a convivial atmosphere. We are looking forward to your visit!
